ALEC Politicians In Your State

Jim Morin/Miami HeraldAnyone who really knows the history of stand-your-ground laws also knows that the National Rifle Association (NRA) pushed legislation to start these laws, and they had cronies in state government to facilitate that.

Every state in America has politicians who are affiliated with the American Legislative Executive Council (ALEC). It’s a smart ALEC term for a corporate front organization, a clearinghouse – in bed with their member, the NRA – where bribes, cronyism, and kickbacks are legal. According to, corporations hand state legislators their wish lists to benefit their bottom line.

Corporations fund almost all of ALEC’s operations. They pay for a seat on ALEC task forces, where their lobbyists and special interest reps vote with our elected officials to approve “model” bills, such as stand-your-ground laws. What else they do behind closed doors, most of us who pay the salaries of these politicians may never know.
